Carla is an experienced litigator and dispute resolution professional. Carla is a Law Society certified mediator, parenting coordinator and family law arbitrator. She practices collaborative law, and prepares Hear the Child reports. After more than thirty years of practice, continuing education, and independent study of developments in the law, Carla is skilled at guiding clients to settlement. If court is necessary, Carla delivers a well thought-out and executed litigation plan, empathetic support throughout the process, and the best outcomes achievable.
Carla graduated from law school in 1984. She was called to the bar in Manitoba in 1985 and in British Columbia in 1990.
Carla has taught or presented for Continuing Legal Education BC, the Professional Legal Training Course, Trial Lawyers Association of BC, the People’s Law School, Battered Women’s Support Services, the BC Behavioural Analyst Branch and the Symposium on Children’s Participation in Justices Processes in Calgary, Alberta.
Volunteering is a passion for Carla. She has contributed her time to organizations including the Employment Assistance Appeal Tribunal, the Canadian Bar Association, West Coast Legal Education and Action Fund, The Law Society, Access Pro Bono and Battered Women’s Support Services. She currently serves on the board of the Hear the Child Society.
In Carla’s plentiful spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, and travel. She is currently preparing for a long walk on the Via Francigena. Other interests include yoga, reading, writing, cooking, hockey and opera.
